Who Can
Be A Coach?
Participating districts have their own processes for coach recruitment, and, depending on the district, this position may be volunteer or stipend-supported. Coaches must complete all ODE, OHSAA and OIAS requirements.
OIAS Requirements:
- Understanding of NFHS and OHSAA high school basketball rules.
- Coach training provided by Adaptive Sports Ohio. This training provides in depth information, insight, and instruction regarding eligibility, rules, recruitment, equipment usage, and general season information.
“The challenges [of coaching] are very minute compared to the reward and feeling that you have when you come out of a practice or you’re leaving a game, or even watching them play, it makes it all worth it. We’re only here for a short time, we need a legacy. This is a great way to have a legacy with your community, your school, and to build something positive within those two things. So, come join us. It’s time well spent.”
